 Summary of AAG Foundation Programs

Reads Program

The mission of the AAG Foundation's Reads Program is to motivate children to read and in turn improve literacy skills.  By the year 2015, the AAG Foundation will establish relationships with 10 public school systems across the United States working through the State School Superintendent in each market.  Working with these entities, the AAG Reads Program will distribute 100,000 books to schools in need with 10,000 books being disseminated in 10 markets.  More specifically, those children/classes who participate in the Reads Program are required to read a pre-determined number of books during the school year (as determined by the school administrator) and are evaluated throughout the program to measure individual improvement using book reviews, poetry and other creative means. Local professional athlete (s) are involved throughout the program to offer encouragement, guidance and assistance.  The program concludes with the students writing and illustrating a child's short story inspired by the athlete.

High School Scholarship Program

The purpose of the AAG Foundation's High School Scholarship Program is to support the pursuit of a college education to graduating high school students who face financial hardships or other barriers that prevent these youngsters from being able to continue their education after high school.

The students will be evaluated based upon outstanding performance in the areas of:

  1. Academic Excellence
  2. Leadership
  3. Sportsmanship
  4. Community service

Digital Connector Program

In partnership with One-Economy Corporation, the AAG Foundation will bring technology & technology training to in-need communities.  More specifically, the Digital Connectors program identifies talented young people, immerses them in technology training, and helps them build their leadership and workplace skills.   Young people gain new knowledge that helps them in school, prepares them for employment, and instills the pride of knowing they had made a difference in their communities. To date, One-Economy's Digital Connectors Program has directly engaged over 2,600 youth and resulted in over 56,000 hours of community service being completed.

ACE Program

The purpose of the AAG Foundation's ACE Program is to empower professional athletes through continued education to positively impact their personal well being along with those around them. The underlying premise of this venture is that the AAG Foundation, by the year of 2015, will successfully support a total head count of 500 current and/or former professional athletes through scholarship funding, who will in turn complete 1,000 total semesters of learning at an accredited and AAG approved post-secondary and/or graduate institution

Community Based Initiatives

In addition to the formal programs that the AAG Foundation has identified as core elements/initiatives, there is a belief that we must be able to direct our resources and attention to a variety of community needs as seen by the Board of Directors and the athlete community.  Such initiatives range from health and wellness education to supporting disaster relief and athletic clinics.
